Buyer’s guide
The best zen tile matching games in 2026
Zen tile games all run the same loop: a heap of tiles, a tray at the bottom, and a clear whenever three of a kind meet. There is no timer and no fail state to speak of, which is the appeal — this is the genre people reach for to wind down rather than to be tested. Because the games are so similar, the useful question is not which plays best but which is rated well by a lot of people and still being updated. That is what we ranked on, and it does not put the most famous name first.

The ranked list
From Tripledot Studios, and the strongest option on both measures we can actually check across this genre: 267,259 App Store ratings at 4.86 — a bigger base than the better-known Zen Match and a higher average. Updated 16 June 2026.
From OAKEVER GAMES: 4.90 from 308,074 ratings, the best pairing of volume and average anywhere in this collection. We place it third only because the two above have four and a half years of continuous updates behind them; on the numbers alone it has a claim to the top.
Moon Active’s game, and the one most people mean when they search for this genre — 255,296 ratings, released July 2021, updated 24 May 2026. Worth knowing before you start here on name recognition alone: its 4.58 is the lowest star average in this collection, and several smaller games below rate higher.
The highest star average in the collection at 4.93, from 44,722 ratings, pairing the standard board with a scenery-building meta layer. One caveat: its last update was 12 March 2026, the least recent here, so it is the one to watch for signs of being left alone.
The most committed to the calm end of the genre, built around floral tile art rather than the household-object sets most of these games use. 4.73 from 51,036 ratings, updated 3 June 2026.
Uses mahjong tile faces on the modern triple-match board rather than the traditional mahjong solitaire layout — the pick if you want the older iconography without the older rules. 4.75 from 45,487 ratings, and the newest game here at April 2025.
From Gamovation, 4.89 from 36,875 ratings, updated 1 July 2026. A straightforward, well-maintained take with no unusual mechanics — which, in a genre where the differences between the top ten are genuinely small, is a reasonable thing to want.
The smallest rating base in this collection at 12,754, with a 4.71 average and an update on 1 July 2026. It is here because it is actively maintained and rates well; it is last because on both measures available to us it trails everything above it.
