uBlock Origin is Raymond Hill’s content blocker, with 11,000,000 Chrome Web Store users and 4.7 stars from 35,500 ratings, plus 10,444,513 average daily users on Firefox at 4.80. It is a Manifest V2 extension, which Chrome has had disabled since 2025, and Google’s deprecation timeline removes all remaining MV2 extensions from the store on 31 August 2026 — the listing was still live when we checked on 29 July 2026, running v1.72.2 from 8 July 2026. Firefox is where it is fully itself: several of its strongest filter types need APIs that only Firefox provides, and Mozilla has committed in writing to keeping them. Its author tells Chrome users to find an alternative before Chrome disables it for good.
